Self-Catering Breaks in High Wycombe

Looking to book a self-catering break in High Wycombe? With plenty of facilities and lots to offer visitors, High Wycombe will suit those looking for plenty of shops, restaurants, hustle and bustle and proximity to some stunning countryside nearby on holiday. The area just outside of High Wycombe in the Chiltern Hills is a particularly beautiful area for country cottage holidays.

What High Wycombe Offers for a Self-Catering Break

• High Wycombe is one of Buckinghamshire’s largest towns so offers visitors ample facilities. • Within the town is a theatre, a museum where you can learn about the town’s history as a centre for chair making, a good selection of shops, restaurants and a shopping centre. • The real attractions of High Wycombe are to be found just outside the town where you will find some beautiful countryside as the town is surrounded by the Chiltern Hills, a protected area of stunning natural beauty. This area is a lovely location for a self-catering cottage break. Whether you are taking a self-catering walking holiday or just like to do a spot of rambling on your break, the Chiltern Hills are a wonderful area to discover. Enjoy walking the trails and paths and look out for red kites flying ahead or for shy deer hiding in the forest as you walk.

Visit West Wycombe Just Outside High Wycombe

• Well worth a visit, and just outside of High Wycombe you can find the village of West Wycombe. West Wycombe is a truly charming place to visit or take a cottage break. West Wycombe village and hill are protected and cared for by the National Trust. Pretty much most of the buildings in this village consist of quaint historical properties and many date back to the 16th century. Climb the hill and find the Dashwood family mausoleum which looks out over the surrounding countryside, a finer resting place would be hard to find. • The Hellfire caves at West Wycombe, which can be accessed at the bottom of the hill, are an amazing place to visit. Be prepared though, they are dark and quite scary. There are a number of narrow corridors, but once inside you will find some large cavernous rooms, and it is fascinating to learn about the history associated with these caves. Much of West Wycombe is associated with the Dashwood family, and the large country house just outside of the village, West Wycombe Park, is of course linked to the Dashwood family but cannot be visited. Classical outdoor concerts are held at West Wycombe Park some summers, and a finer place to listen to music, have a picnic, and enjoy relaxing in the grounds is hard to find, but these open-air concerts have been sadly lacking recently. Whether you choose to stay in High Wycombe itself for a self-catering break or rent a rural country cottage in the Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire, we hope you have a great time. We recommend when in the area that you visit West Wycombe, particularly in summertime. We hope you find the perfect holiday cottage rental in or near High Wycombe in Bucks for you.
