The county borough of Neath Port Talbot lies on the south Welsh coast bordered by Swansea to the west and Bridgend to the east.
The main towns in Neath Port Talbot are:
- Port Talbot - with Margam Country Park visitor centre, castle and orangery, parkland with lakes and herds of deer, outdoor musical events.
- Neath - Carnival in July, Victorian Day in Gnoll Country Park.
- Pontardawe- with its music festival in mid August.
Neat Port Talbot has a coastline with beaches such as Aberavon which is reputedly very good for surfing but not as attractive as those on the Gower Peninsula to the west, in South Wales.
