There's nothing quite like an open fire for whiling away the time whilst staring into the flickering flames and basking in its warmth. The flames scatter light around a room and create a comforting glow - quite often something we associate with Christmas and the scent of pine or apple logs. Find a self-catering holiday cottage or country house for your holiday in England. If you're booking for Christmas or New Year, book early. The larger cottages and houses tend to be booked far in advance. Most holiday home owners provide a starter pack of logs to burn on your open fire.
