The Vale of Glamorgan is a traditional farming region dotted with pretty coastal towns like Llantwit Major. The memories of days gone by are kept alive in Llantwit Major in the 16th century buildings which remain standing in the town centre and by the winding high-walled streets and Medieval gatehouse. Every June, the town holds the Llantwit Victorian Fair.
Enjoy the sea views along the Heritage Coastal Path. The 14 miles of country lanes and footpaths are suitable for walkers and cyclists. Discover secluded coves in amongst rugged cliffs along the way.
Doctor Who fans will know that the series is filmed in Cardiff; the city also houses the Doctor Who Up Close exhibition in the Red Dragon Centre. Just to the west of Cardiff is the Museum of Welsh Life. Many buildings characteristic of Welsh history have been rebuilt here in order to create an interactive experience of Welsh life through the ages. On certain days historical artisans such as blacksmiths and leatherworkers exhibit their ancient crafts.
