A list of self-catering country cottages, houses, pine lodges and similar rented self catering holiday accommodation in Derbyshire, with an open fire for cosy evenings in.

In my opinion, it is men who get the most pleasure out of lighting a log fire in the grate in a holiday cottage. It could be in a traditional open fireplace or a wood burner that gives a room a lovely glow and brings out the cave man instinct. Most of us no longer have log fires at home, they’re too messy, to time consuming so we can indulge ourselves with the novelty on holiday.

A week’s supply of logs is usually provided free then more may be purchased if you’re keen. Holiday accommodation is almost always centrally heated so it’s not something that is provided to keep the accommodation warm. It’s just one of the features that people often like about cottages, especially those in the country.
